Coral Gables drinks differently to the rest of Miami. The Gables is older, lower and quieter, most of the good rooms sit within a few blocks of Miracle Mile, and the music tends to be jazz and blues rather than house and reggaeton. That makes it the easiest part of the city for an evening where you can actually hear the person across the table. Every venue below links to its full profile in our venue directory, and the recurring nights show up in the gig calendar.
Armstrong Jazz House
Armstrong Jazz House on Miracle Mile is the serious one. Live jazz nightly, with blues and swing in the mix, in a room built for listening rather than talking over. If you only have one night in the Gables and you want music to be the point of it, start here.
Titanic Brewery and Restaurant
Titanic Brewery and Restaurant sits across from the University of Miami and has run its Wednesday blues jam for twenty five years, 9pm to midnight. That alone makes it one of the longest running regular music nights in the county. Weekends bring local bands including the Kosher Dills, Standard Azul and Grateful Dead tribute acts, plus showcases from the Frost School of Music. Karaoke runs Sunday 9pm to midnight, 21 and up, free, and it is among the busiest in Miami.
The Globe Cafe and Bar
The Globe Cafe and Bar on Alhambra Circle has the feel of an old New York salon, dark wood and vintage globes, with live jazz every Saturday night and no DJs at all. A full menu and a long bar. This is the room for a late dinner that turns into a long evening.
JohnMartin’s Irish Pub
JohnMartin’s has been on Miracle Mile since 1989 and was reinvented in 2022. Thursday is Karaoke on the Mile from 8pm, Friday is Pubhouse Fridays with music and dancing, and the pub books live bands for its big nights, including the Halfway to St Patrick’s party and the annual street festival that takes over Miracle Mile every March.
Copper 29
Copper 29 is the late one. Craft cocktails, daily drink deals, DJ led music running to Latin and Top 40, and a licence until 3am on Friday and Saturday. In a neighbourhood that mostly winds down early, this is where a Gables night continues.
Mamey
Mamey on South Dixie Highway is a rooftop restaurant with a Caribbean kitchen and live music through the week. Quieter and more food led than the Brickell and South Beach rooftops, with the music pitched to match, so it works for a dinner where you still want something playing.
The Bar
The Bar on Giralda Avenue is exactly what the name promises, a straightforward neighbourhood room that runs karaoke. Useful to know about when the Mile is busy and you want somewhere less polished.
Planning a night in Coral Gables
Miracle Mile is the spine of it. Armstrong, JohnMartin’s and Copper 29 are all on the same stretch, and The Globe is a two minute walk away on Alhambra Circle, so you can move between four rooms without driving. Titanic and Mamey are both south toward the university and are a short drive rather than a walk.
Timing matters here more than in Wynwood or South Beach. The Gables eats early and most rooms fill between seven and ten rather than after midnight. Wednesday is genuinely the best midweek night in the neighbourhood because of the Titanic blues jam, and Saturday is the strongest for jazz. Street parking on the Mile is metered and there are several garages a block back, which are usually easier after eight.
